Apr ’06 – May ‘10 BG, Trinidad
& Tobago Well Services
Supervisor.
Contracted to BGTT Ltd long term. Writing
programmes and working mainly on subsea horizontal gravel pack completions both
in virgin and depleted reservoirs. Completed installation of five (5)
horizontal gravel pack subsea wells, two (2) horizontal gravel pack onshore
wells and twelve (12) horizontal gravel pack completions from a platform based
rig. Also performed well integrity and intervention/workover operations on
subsea, platform and land wells. All work was completed with no LTI’s and the
platform based completion installation work was completed 81 days ahead of
schedule.
Mar ’06 Total, Congo DST Engineer.
Requested by Total to return for a second DST,
similar to the previous. Fine tuned the programme and reviewed preparations in
light of Lessons Learned and Recommendations from the last well's EoWR.
Drilling was abandoned.
Jan ’06 - Mar ‘06 Total, Congo DST Engineer.
Contracted to Total as a DST Engineer for a Deep
Water appraisal well test. Finalised the programme and witnessed onshore
preparations prior to providing offshore supervision, tubing tallies and
detailed work instructions.
A standard DST string with a seal assy, to stab
into a previously run PerfPak packer, was run. Standard Deep Water Subsea equipment was utilised but with the addition on an N2 injection sub to enable the
well to be brought on. The well was tested successfully with no accidents,
incidents or injuries.
An End of Well Report, covering operations,
supplier performance, improvement opportunities, recommendations, etc., was
issued.
Nov ‘05 – Jan ‘06 Total/KOC, Kuwait Test Engineer.
Contracted to Total as a Test Engineer for
Kuwait Oil Company for High Pressure/High Temperature DST’s. Provided detailed
work instructions and on site supervision.
A 5” packer with seal bore extensions & TCP
guns was run and set. A Slimline DST toolstring with seal assembly was then run
on a hanger and a production tree was installed. 20K Coiled Tubing was utilised
for displacement and to spot acid. Acid bullheading was also undertaken. The
well was tested using a 20k well test system.
3 x DST’s were performed with no accidents,
incidents or injuries.
Sept – Oct ‘05 KBB JOC, Malaysia DST Engineer.
Contracted to ConocoPhillips as DST Engineer for
Kebabangan Joint Operations Company (KBB JOC) to provide offshore supervision
for two DST’s.
A programme had not been written, but an outline
for testing an oil well had been prepared. Both zones to be tested were gas. Reviewed
the equipment planned; required further equipment to comply with safety
standards. TCP guns were run on a seal-bore packer & the seal assembly, run
on the DST main string, was free-floating. Wrote detailed work instructions in
lieu of a programme and was sole offshore DST supervisor.
Both DST’s were completed successfully with no
accidents, incidents or injuries.
An End of Well Report, covering operations,
supplier performance, improvement opportunities, recommendations, etc., was
prepared.
March – Aug ‘05 Occidental, Albania DST Engineer.
Contracted to Occidental as DST Engineer to finalise
the planning, write the programme and manage the Services for a DST on a 10% H2S
oil well on land.
The work entailed reviewing the preliminary
planning, confirming string design and preparing the detailed programme,
discussing with Suppliers the planning & needs for the project. Procedure
was to run a slotted liner, run a packer with seal bore extension, run the DST
string, with snap latch, and perform a Coiled Tubing wash over the slotted
liner to displace the mud to acid. A full stimulation package to bullhead high
volume acid prior to flowing the well. Gas incinerators were to be used to
ensure maximum burning of H2S. SO2 was to be measured at
the site and surrounding countryside.
The Service companies were located outside Albania, so requiring extensive careful planning to ensure all required equipment be
available at the well site when needed.
Released on a retainer due to problems arising
with drilling and the well having to be sidetracked.
Returned to witness the preparations, function
& pressure testing of equipment and reviewed the certification packages.
The well was not tested.
Nov ’04 – Feb ‘05 Schlumberger
Asia, India Test
Supervisor.
Contracted to Schlumberger as Test Supervisor to
provide DST, Subsea, Welltest, Data Acquisition, Slickline and Sampling
services to Reliance Industries Ltd.
The work entailed planning and overseeing the
onshore preparation and providing offshore supervision with full responsibility
for Schlumberger supplied services. Underbalanced testing was undertaken on one
zone. All zones produced waxy crude with a pour point of 23 Deg C. Downhole and
surface samples were collected.
Responsible for accurate reporting during the
test and the End of Well & Improvement Opportunities reports on completion
of testing.
October ‘04 Cairn Energy, Bangladesh Well Services Supervisor.
Contracted to KBR to act as Well Services
Supervisor for Cairn Energy on a 4 well intervention project.
Offshore supervision covered installation of
Slickline, E/line and Well Testing equipment, and work in performing drift
runs, static & flowing PLT's, re-perforation and further PLT's.
Operations on only one well were undertaken, due
to production requirements, encompassing the activities noted above, but
further requiring that a Through Tubing Inflatable Bridge Plug be set, with
cement dumped on top, to isolate a sand producing zone. Perforation of a higher
pressure upper zone was undertaken and the well was flowed for clean-up through
a temporary well test package to a temporary flare boom.
Feb – Aug ‘04 Schlumberger
Asia, India Test
Supervisor.
Contracted to Schlumberger to provide deepwater
DST services to ONGC. The Client contract was for Schlumberger to provide
management services encompassing TCP, DST, Subsea, Well Test, Slickline, E-line
and Sampling. Wrote the operations programme, managed HAZOP reviews and onshore
equipment preparation for tests in water depths up to 6,000 feet. Responsible
to the Client for managing the offshore DST operations, e.g. ensuring equipment
ready & fit for purpose, preparation of tallies, lookaheads, detailed work
instructions, safety briefings and reporting. Ensured service reports were
accurate and complete. Prepared end of well reports and reviewed opportunities
for improvements & lessons learned to incorporate into the next well
programme
Dec ‘03 – Jan ’04 VAALCO, Gabon Well Test Engineer.
Contracted to VAALCO to prepare for a DST on a
Jack-up, offshore Gabon.
Reviewed well parameters - high permeability
& porosity. Selected DST string, DST tools & TCP guns. Reviewed Well
Test package. Wrote the programme and held a programme review with Suppliers.
Prepared a HAZOP review. Drove preparation of Well Test, Slickline, DST &
TCP equipment.
The well was not tested.
Prepared a further outline programme for a
Semi-Submersible DST to be conducted later in the year.
Oct – Nov ’03 Helix -RDS -
Westhill, Aberdeen Well Test
Engineer.
Contracted to Helix-RDS to act as Talisman Well
Test Engineer for a TCP/DST welltest on an exploration well in the central North Sea.
Wrote the programme, contributed to string
design & held review and HAZOP meetings with the contracted suppliers.
During offshore preparation confirmed all
equipment was available & correct tool functions, witnessed pressure
testing and provided TCP/DST & Landing String tallies. Confirmed space-out
for Sub Sea Test Tree & gun depth for perforation. Supervised running the
TCP, DST and Sub Sea tools and also the Perforation & Welltest operations,
including Slickline firing head setting, surface & E/line downhole sampling
and E/line LINC interrogation of downhole gauges.
Wrote the End of Well Report.
September ’03 Sakhalin Energy, Croydon Well Test Engineer.
Contracted to Sakhalin Energy Investment Company
to review the viability of operation of a well test package to clean up new
wells on a platform to be located east of Sakhalin Island, off eastern Russia. Clean-ups are to be performed prior to the platform process facility being
commissioned
The review considered location and operation of
the equipment, including low temperature operability, platform cooling in
extreme low temperature, SIMOPs for drilling & boat/helicopter operations
and HS & E issues arising. The report then provided is to be issued as a
controlled document.
Workscope was extended to preparation of a well
test package specification document for subsequent tendering.
July - Aug ’03 Helix –RDS, Westhill,
Aberdeen Well Test Engineer.
Contracted to Helix-RDS to act as Talisman Well
Test Engineer for a TCP/DST welltest on an exploration well in the central North Sea.
Visited all suppliers checking their
understanding of programme & readiness for loadout. During offshore
preparation confirmed all equipment available & correct tool functions,

May ’02 - May ’03 BP, Aberdeen Well Services Supervisor.
Contracted to BP to provide offshore supervision
during the 26 well abandonment phase on the North West Hutton platform. Duties
included supervision of Slickline GR/CCL, BHP/BHT & Perforating or
Splitting runs using Nan Gall memory technology; Slickline fishing; Electric
line Logging, Perforating & Cutting; Cement Mixing & Pumping; Coiled
Tubing Cementing, plug setting, milling & fishing; Wellhead Maintenance;
preparation of work instructions & reports.
Most wells had damaged tubing & completion

April - May ’02 Amerada Hess
Ltd, Aberdeen Well Test Supervisor.
Contracted to Amerada Hess Ltd to provide
onshore support and offshore supervision for an exploratory well test.
Onshore support included programme review &
comment, risk assessment, preparation of loadout lists & manning plans and
yard visits to suppliers to witness preparation and verify procedures.
The well was P & A'd prior to testing.
Jan - Mar ’02 Agip (UK), Aberdeen Well Services Supervisor.
Contracted to Agip (UK) to provide onshore
support and offshore supervision for a six well Interventions programme using
DP vessel Stena "Seawell". The project was to log producing intervals
for re-perforation and/or water shut-off where necessary. The operations
included Slickline drift runs; E/line PLT, TBT, Perforation runs and plug
setting; cementing. Scale removal using acid & dissolver was also
undertaken. An abandonment and Xmas Tree recovery was performed on one well.
April – Dec ’01 Amerada Hess
Limited, Aberdeen Well Interventions
Supervisor.
Contracted to Amerada Hess Ltd to provide
onshore programme review, onshore preparation with Service suppliers, and
offshore supervision for a six well Interventions/Workover and Completions
programme.
Offshore supervision of operations included
providing daily operation instructions, progress reporting, identifying and
follow up on improvement opportunities, logistics, budget tracking and input
into well Handover Document and End of Well Reports.
The operational area covered aspects within
workovers relating to killing the well & setting barriers, recovering the
completion, picking up new completion subassemblies, running hanger, testing
the system, perforation, clean-up & evaluation. Contract extended to
include a further water shut-off intervention which additionally involved
preparing parts of the programme.
Oct ’00 - April ’01 ExxonMobil, Aberdeen Well Services Supervisor.
Contracted to ExxonMobil North Sea Ltd. to
provide onshore support for preparation of a five well completion programme.
Member of audit team for award of contract for
Subsea Intervention equipment used for horizontal Xmas trees. Prepared Deck
Management plan for batch setting 5 x Production Flowbases & 5 x Horizontal
Xmas Trees from a semi-sub. Reviewed programmes; liaised with suppliers to
ensure equipment availability; followed up on opportunities for improvement;
wrote & updated operational procedures. During this time also wrote
programme for, & supervised, platform well interventions.
Mar – Sept ’00 ExxonMobil,
Aberdeen
Offshore Eng/Well Services Supv.
Contracted to ExxonMobil North Sea Ltd. to
provide onshore programme review, onshore preparation with Service suppliers,
and offshore supervision for working over three Injection & Producer wells
in the Northern North Sea.
Offshore supervision included providing daily
operation instructions, progress reporting, identifying and follow up on
improvement opportunities, logistics, budget tracking, preparation of well
Handover Document and End of Well Report.
The operational area covered operations from
establishing guidewires, re-entry, killing the well & setting barriers,
recovering the completion to installing a new completion; i.e., recover Xmas
Tree, run BOP, wellhead cleanup & measurement, picking up tailpipe &

to provide onshore preparation and offshore supervision for workover completion
wells in the Northern North Sea within Halliburton's Lead Contractor contract
with Shell Expro Subsea.
Prior to mobilisation involved in review,
selection and verification, with all service providers, of string design, completion
components & required interfaces. Offshore supervision of operations
included providing daily operation instructions, logistics, budget tracking,
progress reporting, identifying and follow up on improvement opportunities,
preparation of well handover document and End of Well Report.
The operational area covered all aspects
relating to workovers and completions. Completions from wellhead cleanup &
measurement, running sand control equipment, picking up tailpipe &
subassemblies through running hanger, testing the system, pulling BOP, running
& testing the Xmas Tree, perforation, clean-up & evaluation to suspend
& retrieve guidewires. Workovers encompass work from establishing
guidewires, re-entry, killing the well & setting barriers, recovering the
Xmas Tree, running the BOP & recovering the completion through to
installing a new completion. Standard completions with packers & also
liner top completions were run. Wellhead conversions from Vetco 135/8"
SG-1 to Cameron 18 ¾" STM 15 were also performed.

Slickline, liaison with contracted suppliers, design of string, selection of
equipment and preparation of testing strategy to provide data per the reservoir
engineer’s objectives. Preparation of time, manning & equipment schedule
plans and AFE budget. Offshore work included supervision/reporting throughout
operations. On returning onshore followed up on improvement opportunities;
input lessons learned to database; appraised performance and completed of EoW
Reports.
Workscope was extended to preparation for an
exploration well off Holland & provision of well site supervision for a

Integrated Solutions Lead Contractor contract with Shell Expro to provide
subsea completions management services. Provided systems to assess both the
capability of Service Providers and their responses to tenders. Prepared sub-contract
documents in conjunction with the London legal department and Shell Expro.
Provided a system for billing which reduced all Services invoicing to one
per month for each Project. Involved in building the management systems under
which the department operated. Wrote Excel spreadsheets to provide itemised
tracking of operations & billing throughout the Project phases and databased
the collected results. Co-authored a Completions Performance Analysis for
Subsea Wells, using the database. Involved in a Shell Subsea Quality Improvement
Process team as the Halliburton focal point. Instigated the formation, and
was chairman, of a Quality Improvement Team for Halliburton. Was the driver
for the department’s improvement process through the use of the ‘System Information
Report’ feedback system, used in tracking both problems and improvements,
where root cause analysis was the requirement to assure problems did not recur.
